Wedding|Susana & Ian

Wedding|Susana & Ian

I had the pleasure of photographing Ian’s brother’s wedding and his nephew’s first year photos. So, I was super thrilled when I was asked to photograph their engagement session.  I really got to know these two…such a nice couple!  They are so sweet and so in love!  Their wedding venue was absolutely beautiful.  Soulard’s famous Soulard Preservation Hall was a gorgeous place for the wedding party to prepare and also a fantastic place for the wedding party and guest to celebrate!

Though it was a tad chilly and there was quite a bit of wind blowing about, the made his appearance and helped provide some sunshine and warmth for this happy couple’s special day.  The entire event was full of love from family and friends…both near and far.  Yes, far.  Susana is from Peru.  Many of her family members and friends were unable to attend…Attend in person that is.  I believe many were there in spirit and via Facetime and Skype too!  Oh thank goodness for technology; one of the positive benefits to social applications in our high tech world.

The ceremony was very special as the entire service was held in both English and Spanish.  Everyone was able to enjoy the words that united Susana and Ian in the bonds of marriage.  Susana provided a wonderful surprise to the end of the ceremony by singing to her new husband.  So touching, special, and brave too!

After a wedding day, the dress is preserved and stored away, the tuxes are returned, flowers wilt, and family and friends return to their daily lives… The few things that can be kept are the photographs I have the honor to take, the memories of the day, and their love for one another from that day forward.  I am so happy I was apart of their day and I wish them all the love and happiness in the world!
