18 Months | Michael
Oh Michael…Such a handsome little 18-month old. I just can’t believe he is 18 months already! At this age, little ones can sometimes be scared or bashful towards strangers; especially strangers with cameras, props, and who are constantly trying to get their attention. Well, Michael was very shy at the start of his session. I have learned after many years of photographing tiny cute nuggets that the best way to break the shyness is to take a moment, put down the camera, get down to their level, and simply chat and play for a bit. Does this take up time? Yes. Is the time taken worth it? YES! It makes for such a more pleasant experience for both nugget, parents, and myself.
For Michael, my masterful baby charming abilities broke down the shy wall and got him to feel relaxed and have some fun. Just look at these cute smiles we were able to capture. I think the hardest part was keeping his little tractors out of all the images. A few were okay, but sometimes you have to talk (a.k.a. bribe, convince, trick, etc.) them into parting with their toy for just a bit in order to capture other images. A trick I having is utilizing my props in the studio. One prop is making an indoor ride out of my black bar stool…ha! Michael just loved when I sat him on the stool and spun him around while saying, “wheeeeeee!” He joined in by saying, “wheeeee” with me; just too cute. One has to be careful with the awesomeness of the stool ride; I had to change directions and slow down a few times as Michael was getting a bit dizzy and wobbly. Yet, that didn’t phase his ability to bring on a smile and rock out the session. So versatile rocking his tractors one minute and a dapper suit the next. Ha! Love it!
Thanks Michael for such a fun session!
